Purification and Quality Control  The His-tag recombinant protein is purified by affinity chromatography in combination with FPLC columns.  The purified FRA-1 is greater than 95% homogeneous based on SDS-PAGE analysis.
Unit Definition (Activity) 1 unit equals 1 nanogram of purified protein. 20-200ng is sufficient for an in vitro transcription assay and 100ng is sufficient for a protein-protein interaction assay.
Applications FRA-1 can be applied in in vitro transcription assays, DNA-protein and protein-protein interaction assays.
Formulation and Storage The protein is in 20mM Tris-HCl pH7.9,100mM NaCl, 0.2mM EDTA, 1mM DTT and 20% glycerol. Stored at -70°C before use. Avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles.
 Synonym FRA; fra-1; FRA1 and FOS-like antigen 1.

Background The fos-related antigen 1 (Fra-1, or FosL1: Fos-like antigen 1) is a member of the Fos onco-protein family and a component of AP-1 transcription factor (1). Similar to other members of the family, Fra-1 contains a leucine zipper domain and a highly conserved C-terminal region (2). Transcription of Fra-1 gene is regulated by multiple cis-elements and 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) (3). Fra-1 expression is associated with proliferation and invasiveness of breast cancer cells and other cancer cells (4,5).
